Kettering Golf Club
Kettering Golf Club is one of the longest established courses, situated in the midlands founded in 1891.
The Challenge
John Gilding, the Club’s Secretary, wanted to improve the hygiene standards of the Club by eliminating the bad smells and frequent urinal blockages which had caused frequent overflows and wastage of water. (This sometimes necessitated flushing 6 times per hour.) He also wanted to reduce the cost and subsequent irritation caused by maintenance.
The Clubs’ membership totals approximately 800. John Gilding wanted to give something back to them by improving the washrooms cost effectively, creating a more hygienic and pleasant environment.
The toilets, basins and changing areas were used extensively at weekends and during summertime.
The Solution
Albany provided a free consultation that included a hygiene and environmental survey. It highlighted the necessity of a deep clean to remove not only the visibly accumulated dirt and scale around the urinals, but the hidden build up of uric scale in the urinal pipes and traps.
Albany highlighted the high water usage of the Club, as well as the health and safety issue raised by water accumulating on the floors. Using a cost analysis to demonstrate the water savings, John Gilding was extremely pleased to see that the specialist deep clean and the complete water management system would be cost neutral to adopt.
Albany was awarded the contract to carry out its deep clean service twice per annum.
The Results
Albany’s deep clean has removed the harmful bacteria that caused the bad smells and the incidences of urinal blockages.
The savings on water through the urinals for one year is a staggering 216, 810 litres.
Kettering Golf Club will continue to demonstrate its commitment to the environment and continuous improvement for the wellbeing of its members, staff and visitors.
